Kevin Bernson, vice president of media and public relations and Touchstone Energy brand manager at Shelby Electric Cooperative in Shelbyville, Ill., was recently re-elected to the board of directors of Touchstone Energy. Bernson began his second three-year term, Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at the board’s organizational meeting in New Orleans.
“I’m honored to be re-elected to the Touchstone Energy board of directors,” Bernson said. “The energy industry is changing rapidly, and it’s important for members to know they have a voice that’s looking out for them. Touchstone Energy cooperatives are committed to being the trusted source our members can turn to for accurate and reliable information about energy options for their homes, farms and businesses.”
The Touchstone Energy board of directors consists of 13 volunteer members responsible for setting policy, establishing long-term goals, monitoring general operations, and approving the organizational outcomes and allocation of resources. Bernson has served on the board since 2017. He has worked in the electric cooperative program for more than 30 years, the first 12 as coordinator of video and internet productions at the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC). He has served in his current capacity at Shelby Electric since 2001.

Bernson also serves as vice president of Cooperative Balloon Associates, LLC (CBA), which is based in Illinois and owns and operates the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives hot and cold air balloon program. In 2019, AIEC recognized Bernson for his work with CBA by awarding him the statewide association’s Chairman Award.
