Illinois Rural Electric
Apprenticeship Program
The Illinois Rural Electric Apprentice Program (“IREAP”) is a training strategy that combines supervised, structured on-the-job training with related electrical theory instruction. IREAP is a program of the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (“AIEC”) and is offered to the AIEC’s member cooperatives and other employers who desire to have their employees educated and trained into becoming a journeyman lineman.

- September 12-23 – Climbing School (2 Weeks)
- September 28 – Lineman’s Safety Rodeo & Awards Ceremony
- October 3-7- 1st Year Distribution School
- October 10-14 – 2nd Year Distribution School
- October 17-21 – Advanced Distribution School
- October 24-28- Rubber Gloving School
- November 7-11 – Underground Residential Distribution (URD) School
- November 9 – Trenching & Shoring/Competent Person Training
