Illinois Rural Electric
Apprenticeship Program
The Illinois Rural Electric Apprentice Program (“IREAP”) is a training strategy that combines supervised, structured on-the-job training with related electrical theory instruction. IREAP is a program of the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (“AIEC”) and is offered to the AIEC’s member cooperatives and other employers who desire to have their employees educated and trained into becoming a journeyman lineman.

- April 12-16 – 2nd Year Distribution School
- April 19-23 – Advanced Distribution School
- April 26-30 – Rubber Gloving School
- May 3-7 – Underground Residential Distribution School
- May 17-21 – Line Clearance School
- June 1-3 – 1st and 2nd Year Apprentice Class
- June 8-10 – 3rd and 4th Year Apprentice Class
- June 15-17 – Transformer School
- July 13-15 – Substation School
- August 10-12 – Meter School
- August 23 – September 3 – Climbing School (2 Weeks)
- September 13-17 – 1st Year Distribution School
- September 20-24 – 2nd Year Distribution School
- September 27-October 1 – Advanced Distribution School
- October 4-8 – Rubber Gloving School
- October 11-15 – Underground Residential Distribution School
