A Total Program

The Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) is one of several integral components that play a role in the success and operation of the electric cooperative program. The essential parts of this program in Illinois are the 250,000-plus families and businesses who own and control their local distribution cooperatives. Through the AIEC, these cooperatives provide a system by which they can increase their effectiveness and efficiency in providing essential services common to all.

Administration

The Administrative Department provides overall management and direction for the AIEC and is responsible for planning, finances, budgeting and management communications with member cooperatives. The department offers key staff support for the association’s board of directors and is the staff liaison for numerous cooperative organizations, including the Illinois Cooperative Council, Mid America Cooperative Council, Rural Electric Statewide Managers Association (RESMA) and National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). The administrative department also provides leadership to the IEC Managers’ and Accountants’ Associations and the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois (GAOI).

Please feel free to contact the Administrative Department at (217) 529-5561.

Communication has always been a key principle of cooperative businesses. Consumer-members own the cooperative business, and they need to understand the issues, problems and opportunities faced by their co-op. Today, as the nation faces future energy supply issues and looks towards renewable and alternative power sources, it’s more important than ever that co-op member-owners stay informed of how these changes to the energy landscape may affect their cooperative. To assist co-ops, the AIEC Communications Department provides graphics, editorial, photography, printing, newsletter, news release, outage communication, marketing, public relations, video, and Internet communications services. The department is also responsible for the Touchstone Energy brand program in Illinois and Illinois Country Living magazine, the largest circulation monthly publication in downstate Illinois.
