Member Services Manager

Job Description:

The Member Services Manager will work to coordinate and assist with the youth programs for the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) and its member-cooperatives, coordinate the national branding/identity campaign on behalf of the AIEC, its member-cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), assist in dissemination of marketing/communications programs and projects concerning the electric cooperatives and the AIEC and assist in planning and facilitating on and off-site details for various meetings each year. It is helpful for the Member Services Manager to understand wise energy use and provide energy services and education to member-cooperative employees. This person will also support the Vice President of Member Services, as well as other departments and AIEC personnel.

• Assist with week-long Youth to Washington Tour for 80-100 students, making tour, transportation and meal arrangements, brochure development, chaperone selection and ongoing communication with students, chaperones, high school guidance counselors and parents.
• Assist with facilitation of one-day Youth Day at the Capitol program for 250+, including booking Capitol space and arranging visits with legislative and Congressional leaders, making tour, transportation, meal arrangements, developing the event brochure and coordinating judges for determining Youth to Washington program participation.
• Coordinate and promote the national branding/identity campaign on behalf of the AIEC, its member-cooperatives and the NRECA. Could include representation on national committees or boards and offsite training.
• Assist with AIEC Annual Meeting planning and facilitation.
• Assist in preparation of various internal informational materials and projects for the AIEC and marketing materials/newsletter for member-cooperatives.
• Organize and manage MSR/CSR and Billing Managers Meetings
• Assist in dissemination of news releases, photographs, and other informational materials for the AIEC and its member-cooperatives.
• Understand and be able to communicate electric demand response/load management and renewables information. Stay current with energy rebate, grant, or loan programs available to member-cooperatives and their member-owners.
• Produce Member Services/Marketing newsletter.
• Assist with various survey projects, including biennial Statewide Survey project
• Oversee Association Management Systems and act as point of contact for member cooperatives.
• Provide prospecting support for Coordinator of Video Productions
• Recruit and/or oversee volunteers from the AIEC staff, member-cooperatives, and interns to meet goal and objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Member Services.

INTERNAL–Frequent interaction with personnel within all departments.

EXTERNAL–Frequent contact with member-cooperative personnel and members, high school guidance counselors, students, and their parents, elected officials, convention bureau representatives, vendors and NRECA personnel.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years’ work-related experience in business, marketing, communications, or related field.
• Ability to interact with and relate to high school-age students
• Proficiency in event planning
• Ability to communicate through writing and public speaking
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of electric cooperative structure
• Knowledge of electric utility terms
• Ability to coordinate with others in working, consulting, or advisory capacities
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency programs
• Multi-tasking abilities
• Strong Microsoft Office capabilities

• Experience in customer/member services or event planning preferred. Proven ability to manage tasks.
• Preference given for experience at an electric cooperative.

Physical Requirements:
• Duties are normally performed seated at a desk. Frequent travel by auto and other modes, working long hours attending member-cooperative meetings and visiting member-cooperatives facilities are expected.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds. lifting is sometimes necessary when working at meetings or sponsored events.
