Annual meeting silent auction a huge success

Posted on 07-01-2010

The annual silent auction to benefit the Thomas H. Moore IEC Memorial Scholarship Fund was held on Thursday evening, July 29 during the AIEC annual meeting evening reception.  Attendees were generous in their bids and by the end of the evening $10,737 was raised for the scholarship fund.  Established in 1994, the program currently awards seven $1250 scholarships annually to high school seniors in the "electric cooperative family".

"I just want to thank everyone for their generosity," said Kristin Banks, silent auction coordinator.  "We far exceeded our goal of $9,000 and it just shows how the cooperative family supports and values their youth."  Shown is Duane Noland, president/CEO of the AIEC.  Duane was "auctioned off" to the highest bidder to labor for a day at their cooperative.  The winners were the directors from SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative.
